Remember when a man came on the international scene and because he was a great speaker, people idolized him? Remember when this man made great speeches about reforming his country and transforming it? Remember when people cheered and praised this man?
Remember when this new leader said the people must make sacrifices to start that great transformation? Remember when that man started whittling away at the peoples freedoms because it was for the greater good of the nation and the people continued to cheer him?
Remember when he decided that certain books were removed and burned because they did not suit this mans ideas? Remember when certain history was changed or erased for the good of the people?
Remember when the people were so happy that this man was elected to lead his country because he promised fundamental change?
This man I am talking about was named Adolf Hitler. He was a great speaker. He held audiences in the palm of his hand. He and his cohorts promised many great things to the people. So much so that he was elected Chancellor of Germany. then a short time later through manipulation was given total control.
The people who cheered and elected him listened to his promises and at first loved him. Many of these people were Jewish, Homosexual and Gypsy's. Some were handicapped and destitute. but he talked a good game.
Remember what happened to these people? Well they were killed, beaten and put on trains to extermination camps.
A few years later their country lay in ruins and many people were dead.
Watching the news this week has brought this to my mind. I watched people take down our history, I watched people cheer twice when the Supreme Court handed down decisions that while some think granted them rights, They actually removed more rights. I watch an opposition party that is so cowardly that they set back and let it happen.
History repeats itself...This same thing is happening now, just different leaders.
